Nineteen of the Russian's twenty-one championships have been won on hard courts

A comeback Medvedev secured his first championship for nearly 30 months with success over Corentin Moutet in the tournament championship match.

The Russian, a former number one, has experienced a challenging period, winning just a single victory at the big events and suffering a setback at the US Open.

Medvedev's unpredictability on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his serve in especial - resulted in him exiting of the world's top 10 and eventually separating with long-term coach his previous coach.

Now collaborating with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has consistently improved in the past month - climaxing in a closely contested three-set victory over opponent Moutet.

This marks his initial trophy following the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hard court after spring of that year.

The win also indicates the Russian has won twenty-one victories at 21 distinct events.

"It's the first time I'm at a competition with my two daughters together, so to win a trophy is really nice," said tennis professional the champion.

"This title is in honour of my second daughter her name, because the maiden victory I got when my first daughter Alisa was delivered was for her."

The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his last six title deciders, featuring in Halle previously this season.

His counter-punching strategy and regular reactions on the tennis court had caused some to question if his skill to play at the elite level was over.

Yet the athlete has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, making an effort to approach the net and play positively, supported by an improved serving game.

Medvedev fought back from a disadvantage in the first set against the tricky opponent, securing 4 of the last five points to gain the advantage.

Both players exchanged breaks in the second set before the Frenchman, bidding for his first ATP Tour victory, took control to create a third set.

He saved 4 early-game chances in a tight final set before the champion broke to 15 to serve for the match.

Suitably, Medvedev secured the title with a shot at the net area, with Moutet incapable to manage a return after over two and a half hours.
